Veteran's Day

Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow (November 11th) in order to celebrate Veteran's Day. Thank you Vets!!!

Firefighters

The firefighters came Thursday to talk to us. They told us about the importance of smoke detectors and that they save lives. They also showed us what they looked like in their gear so we didn't have to be scared when we saw them! They also told us about their open house that they are having on Saturday the 9th from 10-2. It sounds really fun!

Welcome new 2nd graders!!!

I'm off getting Room 4 ready for your all of you wonderful 2nd graders! I hope to see you on Back to School night from 5:30-6:30 on September 7th!

Friday May 21st

Just a reminder that this Friday, May 21st is SPORTS DAY! Wear your favorite team's jersey or t-shirt or your team's uniform! Anything sports related is fantastic!

Butterfly Release!

Due to illness, I was unfortunately absent during this day, but Mrs. Sullivan was nice enough to take pictures for me of the release of our butterflies! It looked like a lot of fun and it was a beautiful day!

Twin Day

We had some twins today for Twin Day Spirit Day!

Maddi and Kincaid were twins (and it wasn't even planned!) Also, Kaela and Jamie were twins as were Alex and Javier!

Friday is a big day!!!

There are lots of events happening on Friday.

#1 - Friday is toys from home day. Each Friday for the rest of the year, students can bring toys from home to play with outside at recess. These can NOT have batteries or cords. They are not to be a distraction to our learning or toys will be taken away and given back at the end of the day. We have a spot in the classroom where students can store their toys so they are safe during the day, but the students need to be responsible for their toys outside!

#2 - This Friday is TWIN DAY! Students can dress like their friend. If they do not have a friend to dress alike with, I will be wearing my red Frank Wagner t-shirt and my blue jeans. Any student is welcome to dress as my twin this day!

#3 - This Friday is also the PTA Carnival & Auction! I believe it is $4 to get in and this allows everyone to play unlimited games. Pizza will be $1. Don't forget about the auction! Our class has 3 items in the auction. One is a "writer's bag". The bag has a notebook, pencil case, pencils, 2 packs of crayons and some erasers. Another is a "reader's bag" which has some new books inside. The third item is 5 Earth Day bags decorated by some students in the class. Did you like the bags that the students took home for Earth Day? Now you can have your very own! I hope to see you all there! Baby Zoe and I will be in attendance!

Earth Day

For earth day, we discussed the importance of using reusable bags when shopping. So...we made our own reusable bags! We used markers, glitter paint and glitter stickers! They are perfect 2nd grade size or even great for lunches!

Big Buddy Reading Outside!

Just about every Monday we meet with our 4th grade buddies from Mrs. Whitehouse's class and do many things from reading, writing, math, and art! Today, we took advantage of the nice day and read outside! We read Scholastic News articles and books from the 2nd grade book bags filled with Just Right books!

Happy Easter, happy Spring! This is the start of my 2nd grade blog. I'm hoping that this is more successful than the website that I previously had. This is still a work in progress as I learn how to use blogger. I hope everyone is having a great spring break!
